Wild Races March - for Wind Band (Med-Adv)

First thing’s first, I’ve got to say, this piece was a blast to write. It was my first go-around at writing a march, and it wasn’t exactly supposed to turn into a full-on circus march. In fact, it was originally supposed to be a Grade 1 March, approachable for a Middle School. However, I couldn’t hear it in my head any other way other than absolutely *clears throat, preparing for the best British accent you’ve ever heard* depressing the gas pedular down as far as it’ll go and hitting the road. The only thing I could picture in my head is either a stampede of horses running down through a grass field down the steepest hill you’ve ever seen or a Lamborghini gunning it at full speed down the highway. With that tasteful imagery in mind, pick one and run with it. Furthermore, I wrote this piece, also, with a very hopeful image in mind. At the time of its publishing, Wild Races March was my personal kickstart to the new year, 2022. Here’s to stampeding through the year. Oil your valves and buckle yourselves in because this race will have you all over the place!
